Thanks so much to Betsy of Money Changes Things for hosting our February edition of the Carnival of Ethics, Values, and Personal Finance. And if the great posts you'll find there aren't incentive enough to check it out, there's also a fun Girl Scout cookie theme complete with pictures!
There were some really terrific posts submitted and included-- here are a few of my favorites:
- Conflicting Desires: Knowing That We Have Enough vs. Always Wanting to Better Ourselves (from Slow Down Fast Today!) How do you figure out what is "enough"? How do you appreciate the present rather than always looking towards the future?
- The Personal Financier: What is the Economic Value of Happiness? (from Personal Financier) A fascinating article about how France is trying to incorporate people's well-being and happiness into their measurements of national success, rather than relying on the pure financial totals of GDP.
- My Super Sweet 16 - Messing Up and Spoiling Kids For The Next Generation (from Money Blue Book) I've only watched this show a few times, but this post is a great exploration of how you can laugh at a show while also being disgusted and distraught about the messages it sends about wealth and consumerism.
The Carnival is always up on the first Thursday of the month, which means the next edition is March 6th. Please let me know if you're interested in hosting! And submit your posts through this form.
